I don’t remember where I picked up this activity so am unable to give credit to the original authors. It works like this: teachers will walk students through drawing three favorite animals of their own, and the slowly revealing that those animals reveal others’ opinions about them and their own viewpoints.
Here are the procedures:
1 Think of three animals
2 Draw three animals:
The first one is your favorite animal.
The second one is your second favorite animal.
The last one is your third favorite animal.
3 After the drawing/sketching, students share their drawings with their peers.
4 Slowly reveal to them that . . .
The first one is your favorite animal: This is what you think others think about you.
The second one is your second favorite animal: This is what others really think about you.
The last one is your third favorite animal: This is what you really are.
